About Us

Established in 1978, Sitter School of Dance is one of Saskatchewan’s finest dance schools. It provides dance training for everyone from beginners through to professionals, with qualified teachers in Ballet, Tap and Jazz.

The School’s success is in the programs designed for all children; those who wish to dance for fun, and for those who wish to train in an Intensive Program.

Sitter School of Dance is committed to excellence in dance training. Teachers are constantly training in all elements of dance from the traditional movements of ballet to the latest movements in jazz and tap.

A dress code exists for dance classes. Dance wear is available from local shops. Students are required to wear a uniform of navy blue, pink, or black – studio –crested bodysuits are available at the studio but not compulsory.

Boys and girls in Saskatoon can take part in after school and weekend dance classes. Children take one, two or three classes a week depending on age and level of training from September to June.

Children are assessed during the first month to ensure interest and suitability of class placement. Classes are limited in size, and emphasis is on musicality and enjoyment, with concern for structure and technique evolving over time. For those students wishing to take exams, graded examinations in ballet are awarded by the Royal Academy of Dance, and in tap and jazz by the Canadian Dance Teachers Association.

For those students not wishing to take exams, weekly classes are available. These classes are designed to challenge and develop young dancers, with emphasis on dancing for fun.

The studio offers competitive training in dance; this again is optional, and is largely decided by the studio staff. Should your child be chosen, you the parents would be contacted. Your decision is the final commitment. The studio has a high standard for competitive team work, and works continuously to challenge the dancers and teachers to maintain its excellence. Many awards in the form of trophies and scholarships are won by the students on a yearly basis.

All students participate in the annual dance extravaganza held at TCU Place in June; it is truly the highlight of the dance year where every child shows his or her talents.

The school is located at 139 & 191 La Ronge Road with three fully equipped studios custom built for dance, along with waiting rooms in both buildings. Office and secretary are located in the main building, lower level.

Talent and effort are nothing without focus and determination
